Have you ever wondered why some people achieve GREAT things in life and others don’t? What made the difference? Luck, after all, is the result of focused action.
Perhaps you have heard of the actor Bruce Lee. In 1969, he wrote:
My Definite Chief Aim
I, Bruce Lee, will be the first highest paid Oriental super star in the United States. In return I will give the most exciting performances and render the best of quality in the capacity of an actor. Starting 1970 I will achieve world fame and from then onward till the end of 1980 I will have in my possession $10,000,000. I will live the way I please and achieve inner harmony and happiness.
Sounds familiar doesn’t it? Perhaps you have read the steps to this formula somewhere before – Considering that Bruce Lee was well on his way to achieving his life outcome prior to his death – I ask you –
Listen up – HAVE YOUR WRITTEN DOWN YOUR Definite Chief Aim in life? If not, why not?
One of my top favorite books is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and he makes it pretty simple. In Dr. Hill’s own words below are the six steps contained in the formula. Why not take an hour out of your day right now and assemble your life’s mission? This is important because it contractually sets the pace from today onward of who you are becoming. It is as important as a legal contract so why not date it and sign it? Heck – even have it notarized and witnessed by a trusted associate. In your very best handwriting, author your life’s Definite Chief Aim and model it after Dr. Hill’s six steps to riches. Date it. Sign it. Reread it out loud twice daily – morning and evening. Work your desire up into a burning white hot frenzy of desire or as Dr. Hill calls it – a burning desire. Mentally see, hear, taste, smell and touch your outcome in your mind’s eye. Make it as real to the senses as you possibly can. Immediately, take action – whatever action – to pull your dream into this reality of time and space. You can do it because you believe you can.
The method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps, viz:
First: fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter.)
Second: determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire (There is no such reality as “something for nothing.”)
Third: establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.
Fourth: create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.
Fifth: write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.
Sixth: read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read–see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.
It is important that you follow the instructions described in these six steps. It is especially important that you observe, and follow the instructions in the sixth paragraph. You may complain that it is impossible for you to “see yourself in possession of money” before you actually have it. Here is where a burning desire will come to your aid. If you truly desire money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you convince yourself you will have it.
